Basement walls

Today the concrete was poured in to the basement wall frames. It was a hive of activity with concrete mixers and pump lorry on the lot, plus at least half a dozen Mexican guys busy working on our house, ensuring the frames were properly filled; still in place after filling and placing reinforcement rods in to the walls. One of them had a soccer shirt on, and the team he was supporting was sponsored by Bimbo.....a brand of bread we used to get in Venezuela. I think we still have some Bimbo beear fridge magnets somewhere!! The chaps told me (in Spanish) that it is infact a Mexican company. All good practice for the Spanish. The workforce switches to Amish for the framing in a couple of days. Wonder if they will turn up in their horse drawn buggies??!! Somehow I think not!

Stood in the basement..entering through what will be the exterior basement door (see photo)!!! Quite exciting to see the house beginning to take shape. To be honest there were times when I never thought I would ever see it happen!
